I'm looking at my first 700 , either a synergy e700 of synergy n700 nitro .. Dont know what way to swing..

Any befits to a nitro these days ? I have never had one, but there still seems to be a following.. Would you choose a nitro over an electric and if so , why ?

    Thanks

The thing that gets me with nitro is 1 the flight time and 2 I have to manage my collective way better.

Nitro makes you a better pilot I reakon

While there has been a steady decline in nitro powered helicopters over the last 3 years due to the fact that electrics as so efficient at over 70% compared to the common fuel burning engine at only 30% it’s no wonder modellers are shifting to the quiet more than double the power that electrics have to offer. They are quiet, don’t require special tuning skills and are clean. The major drawback are short flight times. Will nitro power ever die? I don’t think so at least for short term but who knows for shore? If battery technology improves as expected it may very well kill the inefficient mechanical creation called the combustion engine. I for one coming from the motor trade love my nitro powered helicopters, the smell, sound and mess they make trying to undo various components with their natural vibrations. Who knows my nitro helicopters may be the dinosaurs of the future.

I like the idea of the long flight time and 3d that becomes better as the flight progresses. I don't think nitros will die anytime soon. However what @Fredo states makes good sense.

I love nitro 7 min flights it's just the fuel is over priced
If you don't crash and right off your pAcks or the thing ends up in a ball of flames then it all good with e power Heli

Its much better with a nitro or gasser. Makes everyone queuing for a flight fall asleep!

I fly nitro by choice, in that I mean that nitros makes me a better pilot with smoother transitions while I have the benefit of longer flying times. I think fuel has come down in recent times so there is no excuse. If you are looking for more in your flying and are happy to go through the learning stage, you will benefit for sure

Nitro fuel is expensive when you fly a 90 sized model, my Freya is a 600 ml tank, a 4L bottle of nitro is around $47. Works out to be around $7 per flight, not cheap.

I have a GT-15HZ sitting around, which will go in the Freya when my 4200mAh receiver battery arrives. This will be much cheaper, $1.00 per flight, and will have 30 minute flight times, however, the receiver battery would go flat before this, and the people at most clubs will probably want to kill you for hogging the flight area for that long. Sure it will have less power, but I restrict the Freya to F3C hovering manoeuvres, so I dont need the power.

I have a SDX nitro, which I will always keep as a nitro. Why? There is something about them that just says, real man, or real woman.
