I found one for $17.87 on EBay. I've seen this one in person, I know someone who has one. The resolution is clear and steady. HTB1JorHGXXXXXb0XFXXq6xXFXXXs.jpg
....It's lightweight enough the 450 won't know it's there. Of course I'll have to modify the wiring to work in my application, just like I did with the Wi-Spi cam. 1280 x 720/ 2mp/ 30fps isn't so bad. I'm not planning on getting professional grade video. It's more for personal reference than anything. Here's a video with a quad and this camera:

I'll be ordering one this week. :D

Möbius is around $75 whereas the one I want is about $20 shipping included, is smaller, lighter, and has mounting holes in the body already (if I don't use Velcro).

I finally decided to change the notchy mainshaft bearings. I noticed slight amount of slop in them. Several crashes with bent mainshaft..... it was to be expected sooner or later. I swapped bearing block assemblys from my spare frame..... good to go.

New camera on hold..... I need to stock up on replacement parts in case @Crash Heligod should decide to pay me another visit.
I ordered some Align HD320F QCB blades today (Quality Control- Blemished).
I'm going for Align 121T helical-cut gear(s) and a 9T helical pinion from a Gaui X3 to keep gear ratio near as is (2800). I'm tired of listening to the straight-cut gear noise.
If only someone made a belt-drive main conversion kit for older T-Rex.... I'd be happy.

yeah I got some cheap helical gear and pinion. Would of been nice if all the gears were herringbone and made of delrin. I don't think the helical is that much quieter.

I think part of it is pinion size. 11T pinion is noisy, but when I tried the 13T pinion, it ran fairly quiet. It probably has to do with contact angle between the teeth. I'll eventually get a lower Kv motor when I go 6S so I can use bigger pinion without head speed going up too high.

I assume you redid the mesh when you changed pinions... I also routinely grease my main gear as well

I use beeswax on my gears and silicone spray on the belt, and Inox MX3(FG) on the bearings and moving metallic parts. As for the metallic gears on the servos I use futaba grease.

I'll be going over the gear and hub tonight. I noticed the gear is off center at the hub, so there has to be something wrong where the gear is screwed to the hub. Fortunately the gear assembly is easy to remove. ;)

It turns out that the screw points between the gear and hub were slightly off somehow..... possibly stretched or deformed during a recent crash. I forced concentric alignment by installing a shim in the gap between the edge of the hub and inside of the hub flange in the center of the gear and applied a bit of red Loctite to retain the shim. This will keep hub from moving off center when tightening the screws. Gear is now perfectly centered, and I can set proper pinion mesh. :D

This is still only temporary, until I get the new helical gears. Either way, I have a new trick for maintaining absolute concentricity of main gear....... Straight or slant cut! :p IMG_20160309_193959483.jpg

Seems I may have most of the tail problem sorted out, between VStabi settings and recent "vibration reduction procedures". It seems to be holding better. No blow-out, solid stops. I still have a slight flutter coming down out of a pitch bump, but it looks to be swash gain a touch too high.

I doubt it. I may eventually get a mini Protos or something similar.... when I'm ready.

My heli is belt drive tail....... I was talking about converting the main gear and motor pinion to belt drive. I haven't seen it done on any T-Rex models.

The tiny umbrella gears have a habbit of breaking on only a mild touch and replacing them takes a bit of time. A belt drive is a much better option in a smaller heli in my opinion. I also think its wise to go the clone route for several reasons - a) you will learn so much about how a heli works, b) its much cheaper to repair c) you dont need full on performance while learning and d) its also fun to figure stuff out e) you will then understand what makes a good model good when you decide to upgrade.

I concur with my learned friend @smakmeharder , a TT will only give you grief, one touch of the tail on the deck and a new set of mushroom gears every time will be the order of the day, unless of course you are a masochist and like lots of of rebuilding (which I think you just might...)
